 MUSIAD USA Hosted Congressman Andre Carson in its New York Branch

Congressman Andre Carson visited Musiad USA New York office. Congressman Carson happens to be the second Muslim elected the serve in the Congressional House, also the first self-declared Muslim to be appointed to the House of Intelligence Committee. President Barack Obama and Congressman Carson have a very close relationship. In fact, President Barack Obama went to Indiana Congressional District to campaign on Congressman Carson's behalf.

Musiad USA board members Cetin Guzel, Levent Ali Yildiz, Muharrem Atalan along with Musiad USA members Kemal Birtek, and Ali Cinar attended the meeting. During the meeting, economic and political relations between US and Turkey, the importance of Turkey in the region and the power of influence it has were some of the highlights along with the American perspectives on Muslims in the United States and around the world.

Mr. Carson reaffirmed that Musiad USA is an important businessmen organization, which can be used as a tool in strengthening economic ties between US and Turkey. Musiad USA's contributions were recognized by Congressman Andre Carson when Mr. Carson expressed his gratitude to Musiad USA's President Mustafa Tuncer, and former President of Musiad USA Murat Guzel.

Congressman Carson expressed his desire to increase his collaboration with Musiad USA members to discuss the challenges that businessmen were facing. He noted his willingness to do whatever it takes to improve the relations between US and Turkey. Congressman Carson said ''In order for us to improve this relation, Muslims need to be more politically engaged. The more Muslims are in public office, the greater our policies will be.'' It was a very productive meeting. MUSIAD USA also encouraged minorities to be active participants in politics to represented in public office, so policies can be more inclusive of underrepresented populations.
